Every good reseller knows that having great product pictures is what makes their listings go “above average”.

And having the right source of lighting also helps make the process easier on everyone!

For many years, I was one that relied on natural light, or the light of a few spare lamps to make my listing photos pop. (The sun and I had too many battles over lighting, and the shadows eventually won!) But after evolving my store and finding out that I wanted to take better quality photos, I decided to invest in a lighting kit setup! (The same one that is listed above!)

And you might be thinking: “I have flash on my phone, I don’t need any fancy lighting setup.”

Babe, please listen to me, for the betterment of everyone, that flash isn’t doing you any favors…

I would know, because I’ve been there! I promise!

Just hear me out, and let me explain why a better lighting setup is best for you and your side-hustle/work.

Stick with me as I explain why I chose a better lighting setup, and why I chose the Yicoe Softbox Photography Kit below.

Why a semi-professional lighting setup?

As a 21-year-old that has always loved to create, I had already talked myself into buying a better lighting setup not only for my reselling business, but for future portrait photo-shoots and video making. It was an overall investment into my creative-ventures, not only reselling!

I tend to value natural light over artificial light for almost all of my photos, but the sun and I were not seeing eye-to-eye, or, if you will, ray-to-ray. Either I was in the wrong direction of the house to get the right lighting, or there were too many shadows, or the wind was blowing too harshly outside to take any decent photos. I also realized that taking photos outside in the winter would be a terrible idea, so something had to change.

I also had to factor in that my current college apartment is a semi-underground unit, and natural light is a scarcity that would not bless me for when I moved back there after the pandemic craziness.

So I sucked up my pride, saved some money, and decided to invest in a lighting kit. (Notice how I never say “spend” or “splurge”, because investing means getting money back from the initial purchase, which I did!).

Why I Chose The “Yicoe Softbox Photography Lighting Kit”:

I earn a small commision from each purchase made through the link provided via the listing picture. Each commision allows me to continue making content and sharing my tips with all of you, so thank you! ❤️

It comes in a set of two. This may not be a big deal for some people, but if you’ve been doing photography for a while you’ll know that one light is never enough! What I mean by this, is that you’ll have less shadows with the more lights you have, so getting two lights together was perfect for my listing photos!

Includes two LED bulbs, and has three light/temperature settings. You can see what’s included with the photo above, but this kit has some great LED bulbs for the lights and their own correlating set of remotes to control them! (I don’t use the remotes, but it’s handy for anyone who needs easier accessibility). The LED’s are built pretty sturdily, and they were shipped with extra-care! (Have their own little cardboard box, I kept mine for when storing in the provided tote.) The LED’s even have their own cooling system on the bulb! So they can get warm, but instead of relying on a fan or something, they are made to cool themselves. Plus, LED’s are more eco-friendly and will save on electricity!

The three lighting/temperature settings are great for anyone who needs variety of lighting in their photos! I generally use the brightest sunlight color, but there is also a dimmer version of that, and a blue-white color that looks great on home goods and jewelry. Plus again, having these options allows for endless creative photo opportunities!

Set-up and take-down are easy, and storage is compact! For the duration of use of this kit so far, I had them assembled in the spare-bedroom that I use for inventory and photos. I had no need to disassemble them, so they took up some space. But they’re super light-weight and easy to move out of the way, and really easy to take-apart when needed!

This photo was taken 7/26/21 as I am preparing to move into my new apartment. I’ve got all the lighting kit pieces in the duffle provided (left), and to compare is a compacted camera tripod bag for a 60 inch tripod (right). As you can see, when put away these lights can travel or be stored under a bed or in a closet with ease! Which is perfect for apartment-style living and cramped spaces!

With over 1,800+ five-star reviews on Amazon, this kit is a winner for lots of people! Lots of people left reviews commenting on how easy these are to use, and how much light they produce. There are plenty of example photos from other resellers and their products, and I was blown away by the lighting difference! There are the select few reviews that mentioned that the bulbs arrived broken, but despite the one-in-a-million chance these are great lights for beginners and professionals alike!

I mean, I wouldn’t write a whole blog post on them if they were not worth the money if you think about it…

My rating of the Yicoe lighting kit: 5/5 stars

They’re easy to use, perfect for anyone taking photos, and definitely worth the money. I bought these back in November of 2020, and they have been my go-to ever since.

The price could be better, but if it’s a purchase that I won’t have to make again for a few years, then it’s worth it to me!
